Blind man sues blind man for enticing wife

A blind man, Shaibu Ibrahim, 26, on Tuesday dragged Shehu Sarki, another blind man to a Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, Mararaba, Nasarawa State.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ibrahim accused Sarki, 32, his friend and the chairman of the blind peoples’ association of the area of allegedly enticing his wife, Lami Ibrahim, 23.

Wickedness: Land grabbers beat architect to death over N5,000

When Eniola Kiyesola left home for work on August 18, 2013, he bade his wife and three children farewell, saying he would return after the day’s work.

This was, however, not to be as the 36-year-old man was beaten to death by land grabbers few hours after he left his house.

Man Convicted for Stealing Church Toilet Door in Abuja

20-year old Mr. Awwalu Ali has been sentenced to 90 days imprisonment for stealing a toilet door at the Calvary Faith Baptist Church, Life Camp, Abuja.

Prosecutor, Mr. Simon Emmanuel, told the court that one Mr. Adebiyi Laniyan of the Calvary Baptist Church reported the crime at the Life Camp Police Station on August 24.

According to the Prosecutor, Ali broke into the church compound and removed the door to the toilet, but was arrested before he could escape with it.

‘Mikel Obi Is Going Nowhere’

Mikel Obi will not be leaving Chelsea, at least not during this transfer window, according to his agent John Shittu.

Mikel, 26, has been heavily linked with Turkish club Galatasaray throughout the summer, with Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala and Italian side Napoli also emerging as late entrants for his services.

But Shittu told KickOffNigeria  that the Nigerian is going nowhere.

Yes, I’m of the view that the country may not necessarily have funds to pay these rewards rather what the projection is that those dashing away of funds for job well done will reduce future ability to meet critical obligations. Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Gabe Wildman said Connie Ramirez, 43, of Austintown, Ohio, was arrested Aug. 22, on charges of rape, gross sexual imposition, pandering obscenity involving a minor, and possession of criminal tools.

Neither Ramirez nor an attorney representing her could be reached for comment Monday.

2 beheaded by unkown cultists

Onyebuchi Igwe, 23, was beheaded with both hands cut off, while the second victim, identified simply as Debo, was only beheaded with other body parts intact.

The duo, who were suspected to belong to a rival cult group, were killed on Sunday, August 18, 2013.

Our correspondent learnt that the brutal killing of the youths was a reprisal for the death of Michael Agbo, who was killed in place of his brother on August 6, 2013.

SSS grills the mum of teenage boy who was found in the tire hole of Arik Plane

The mother of the 13-year-old stowaway, Ricky Daniel Ohikhena, who on Friday hid in the tyre compartment of an Arik plane on a flight from Benin to Lagos, was on Monday quizzed for hours by a combined team of security operatives from the Department of StateSecurity Service and aviation security.

The mother, Evelyn, who confirmed that she was quizzed by the SSS operatives, said her son was a nice boy who never displayed any tendency for such a dangerous venture.

Gunmen kidnap constitutional lawyer, Mike Ozekhome

The Edo state Police command have confirmed that Mike Ozekhome SAN was kidnapped Friday by unknown persons as he travelled on the Ehor stretch of the Benin-Auchi motorway.

According to the police, there are no indications of Mr. Ozehkome or his driver’s whereabouts.

The President of Public Interest Lawyers League (PILL) Abdul Mahmud who also confirmed the incident in a statement, described Ozekhome as a “suave, outspoken Lagos lawyer whose contributions to constitutional and public laws are well too known”.

Leader of kidnap gang killed during rescue mission – Police

The police in Enugu State have shot dead the leader of a gang of kidnappers during the operation to rescue a victim.

According to a statement by the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, the victim, Mr. Faith Omoboriowo, was rescued unhurt.

A convicted s*x offender who repeatedly used phony correction department credentials to gain entry into New York City jails has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Matthew Matagrano was sentenced Thursday. The 36-year-old Yonkers resident pleaded guilty last month to posing as a correction officer and sneaking into the Manhattan Detention Center, where he mingled with inmates for hours.

Nigerian Arrested In Dubai Over $2m Scam

After 13 months of being on the run, a suspected Nigerian fraudster, Mr. Itumo Chidebere has been arrested by the Nigerian Police in Dubai.

Lagos Rescues 25 Children From Alleged Trafficker

Lagos State Government has rescued 25 children from an alleged child trafficker in the Egbeda area of the state.

It was learnt that the suspected trafficker, Mrs. Rosemary Nwachukwu, was also arrested and had been handed over to the Alausa Police Division, while the children were currently in government’s custody.

The government accused Nwachukwu of operating an illegal orphanage named, Saint Stephen Charity Foundation, on Abiodun Adebanbo Street, Egbeda.

20,304 PHCN Staff Get N119.731 Severance Package

The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) says N119.731has been paid to 20,304 staff of the Power Holding Company Nigeria (PHCN).

According to the Head, Public Communications, BPE, Mr. Chigbo Anichebe, in a signed statement, the figure represents those that have been cleared.

This is in line with the agreement reached between the Nigerian Government and the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) labour unions since December 12, 2012.

NDLEA Arrests 185 Suspects, Seizes 1.329 kg Of Hard Drugs In Plateau – Commander



The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Plateau said on Tuesday that it arrested 185 suspects and seized 1.329 kilogrammes of hard drugs between January and July.

The Commander of the agency in the state, Dr Ngozi Madubuike, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos that out of  174 of the suspects were males.

Woman's Body Found In Man's Coffin At His Funeral



MOURNERS ready to bury a man opened the coffin for a viewing to find the body of a woman inside. It is understood the man was mistakenly buried weeks earlier in the place of a woman from another remote Northern Territory community, The NT News reports.

A blind Scottish man said he was trying to realize his lifelong dream of driving a car when he crashed it into a boulder and nearly hit a pedestrian. Paul Keatings, 42, was driving his friend’s Subaru Impreza when the accident took place in New Lanark, The Scotsman reported Thursday.

FAAN’s N2000 Luggage Charge: CPC Calls For Review

The Consumer Protection Council (CPC) has protested the reported attempts by officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to force passengers arriving the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA), Lagos to pay a N2000 charge on all checked-in luggage.

The Council, in a letter signed by its Director General, Mrs. Dupe Atoki, drew the attention of FAAN to the consumer outcry that greeted the indiscriminate implementation of the luggage charge, urging it to urgently review and take decisive steps to assuage the situation.

Crude Oil Vessel Sinks Off Bayelsa Coast, Community Discharges Cargo

A vessel suspected to be loaded with crude oil has reportedly sunk in the Odioama community area on the fringes of the Atlantic Ocean in Bayelsa State, as members of the community warded off strangers while oil thieves discharged the cargo.

Residents of the coastal community confirmed the presence of the distressed vessel but gave no further detail.

Boko Haram Gun Down 44 In Nigerian Mosque

Suspected Islamic militants wearing army fatigues gunned down 44 people praying at a mosque in northeast Nigeria, while another 12 civilians died in an apparently simultaneous attack, security agents said Monday.

The attacks were the latest in a slew of violence blamed on religious extremists in this West African oil producer, where the radical Boko Haram group, which wants to oust the government and impose Islamic law, poses the greatest security threat in years.

The news from Borno state, one of three in the northeast under a military state of emergency, came as journalists received a video featuring Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, who gloats over recent attacks, threatens more, and even says his group is now strong enough to go after the United States.

2 Сhildren Dumped In Fish Pond

Two boys, 3 and 4-year-old were dumped in a fish pond along Dumi road, close to Railway Quarters in Bauchi, Thursday.

It was gathered that one of the kids died before help could come while the other one was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi. Now he is receiving medical attention.

Customs Officer Shoots Driver Dead, Injure Two Others

An aggressive and irresponsible customs officer killed a driver at Seme border area of Lagos and injured two others in a shooting incident on August 6, 2013.

The victim, identified as Friday Poku, was shot dead in his red Volkswagen Jetta vehicle, plate number d GGE 81 AH along other occupants of the vehicle.

The tragedy is a repeat of a similar killing, in which a middle aged man was killed in the area around three months ago.

Boko Haram Suspects Protest Lebanese Terror Suspects Getting VIP Treatment

Protest broke out at the Kuje Prisons near Abuja on Thursday over alleged preferential treatment of three Lebanese inmates by officials of the facility.

The protest took place just as the Defence Headquarters said that over 1,000 suspected members of the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram, were in detention facilities in the country.

The Lebanese prisoners – Mustapha Fawaz, Abdallah Thahani and Talal Ahmed Rodo – believed to be members of an international terrorist group, Hezbollah, were said to have been allowed to use a particular area of the prison ground for the Eid-fitri prayers while other inmates, including Boko Haram suspects, were restricted to another place.

46-year-old Bricklayer Arrested With 2.07kg Of Cocaine At MMIA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Friday arrested a 46-year-old bricklayer from Anambra, who attempted to smuggle 2.07kg of cocaine into the country.

Landlord Sets 6 Youths Ablaze Over Indian Hemp

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a middle-aged man, Mukaila Adebesin, for allegedly setting ablaze six people in Ita Balogun Compund, Ago-Oko, Abeokuta.

It was gathered that the victims were allegedly set ablaze by Adebesin at 7pm because they were gambling and smoking Indian hemp on his premises. The victims are:

Adesanya, 20, Sulaiman Adebesin, 20, Saburi Seteolu 18, Raheem Bello 19, Azeez Alabi 20, and Kola Sodeinde 19.

Two Students Caught Stealing From Church

The police on Wednesday arraigned two students at a Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, Mararaba in Nasarawa, for alleged criminal conspiracy, trespass on place of worship and theft.

The accused persons are Freeman Michael, an 18-year-old student of Base 1, Aku Village, Mararaba, and 17-year-old student, of Aba Gana Street, Mararaba.

The police prosecutor, Inuwa Maigida, told the court that the matter was reported at the ‘A’ Division Police Station, Mararaba, by Benjamin Chikodiri of Base 1, Aku Village on July 26. “On July 26 at about 1.30 a.m., the two accused conspired and broke into the Divine Favour Ministry Church located at Aku village, Mararaba.

Family Hoped For A Girl, Gets 12th Baby Boy

It’s a boy! Again.

Kateri and Jay Schwandt of Rockford, Mich., welcomed their 12th baby into the family last week. A brood of now — count ‘em — 12 boys.

“We didn’t know what he would be when he was first born,” a smiling Kateri Schwandt told the local NBC News station. “We don’t find out. It’s always a boy, but it’s always a surprise.”

Tucker Ray Schwandt was born on Aug. 4 — the newest sibling among the other boys ranging in age up to 21 years old.

College Students Protest Rape Of Female Colleagues

Scores of students of the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, Ondo State staged a protest in the  state capital on Tuesday, against alleged rape of their female colleagues by some suspected hoodlums.

They alleged that three female students of the institution fell victim when the hoodlums invaded their campus in the early hours of Tuesday.

The aggrieved students blocked the ever-busy Fiwasaye/Owo Road, causing a gridlock that lasted many hours.

Former Deeper Life Pastor And Nigeria UN Mission Lawyer, Eric Abakporo, Convicted On Fraud Charges, Faces Up To 30 Years In Prison



A jury in New York has convicted Nigeria-born lawyer and former Deeper Life Bible Church pastor, Ifeanyichukwu Eric Abakporo, on charges of fraud, and he could spend a maximum term of 30 years in prison when he is sentenced on November 12, 2013. 

Abakporo was found guilty of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and bank fraud.  The first and third charges each carry a maximum of 30 years in jail, while wire fraud carries a maximum of 20 years.

Abakporo’s co-conspirator, Latanya Pierce, who was also found guilty on all three counts, faces the same predicament.  She will be sentenced separately on December 9, 2013.

Commercial Bus Driver Docked For Attempted Murder And Rape!

A commercial bus driver was Wednesday, arraigned before the Yaba Magistrate court for attempted murder and rape. The driver identified as Taiwo Balogun who pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him reportedly attempted to strangle a lone female passenger, following the latter’s resistance to be raped.

The victim, a trader at Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos, Precious Adeboye,  was just discharged from the hospital following  injuries she sustained from the driver,on June 5, 2013.

Man Sets Friend Ablaze For Dating His Mum In Enugu State

A father of four, Mr. Sylvester Ezema, of Akpa Edem, Nsukka, Enugu State was on Saturday set ablaze by one Sunday Ugwuoke of the same community.

The incident, which happened in the early hours of morning has created much confusion and tension in the community.

A source who pleaded anonymity told DailyPost that the victim was ambushed around 5:30 a.m when he came out to urinate.

Protest Against Alaafin Turns Bloody In Oyo

Court Dissolves 2-yr-old Marriage Over Lack Of Child

The two years marriage between Wahab Idowu and his wife Munirat was on Tuesday dissolved by an Ilorin Area Court over lack of a child in the union.

Munirat, 28, a resident of Ipata area of Ilorin, had prayed the court to dissolve her marriage to Wahab due to the absence of a child in the marriage.

Munirat has told the court that her husband and his relatives were in the habit of blaming her for the inability to bear a child. “My husband and his relatives had threatened to divorce me if the marriage did not produce a child,’’ she said.

11-Year-Old Girl Set On Fire In India For Resisting Rape

An 11-year-old Indian girl who was reportedly set on fire after resisting an attempted rape died of her injuries Sunday, according to reports. The minor was admitted with critical burn injuries, but the hospital where she was treated said, she has succumbed to her injuries.

According to The Times of India, the attack happened Wednesday, July 31, in Salkia. The victim was reportedly doused in kerosene and set on fire by two men who had attempted to rape her. She had said she recognized the men and had threatened to tell her parents.

Military, Insurgents Clash Continues In Restive North

Gunfire and explosions shook one northeastern Nigerian town Tuesday while soldiers slapped a round-the-clock curfew on another in the region hit by waves of insurgent attacks, the military and residents said.

Clashes broke out in the town of Gamboru Ngala on the border with Cameroon on Monday night and continued on Tuesday, a resident said. The military had not commented on the situation there and details remained unclear.

Snake Escape From Pet Shop, Hill Two Chilren

A snake escaped from a pet shop and killed two children in the Canadian province of New Brunswick, police say.

In a statement, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said they believed the reptile had strangled two boys, aged five and seven, in Campbellton.
The boys were staying overnight at a friend's apartment above the pet shop.

Police said they believe the snake slipped out of its cage overnight and travelled through the ventilation. The serpent has been captured by police.

35 killed as Boko Haram, JTF Clash

AFP – Clashes between Nigeria’s military and Islamist extremist group Boko Haram in two northeastern towns have left at least 35 people dead, most of them insurgents, the army said Monday.

Police Arrest Three For ‘Premature Burial’ Of 18-year-old

Men of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested three persons at Oriokuta Community in Akoko South-east Local Government Area of the state for allegedly burying an 18-year-old boy, Sanmi Kehinde, who reportedly killed himself last week with his father’s gun.

Confirming the arrest, Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the Ondo State Command, Mr. Wole Ogodo, said the suspects were arrested because the family of the deceased did not make any attempt to report the suicide to the police before hurriedly burying him.

Ogodo said the police had commenced investigation to unravel the circumstance that could lead to the death of the teenager, adding that the police was still awaiting the autopsy report to progress on the investigation.

Policemen Implicated In Varsity Student’s Killing Arrested

The policemen accused of collaborating with hoodlums to kill two youths in Badagry, Lagos State, have been arrested.

They were arrested on Friday, according to the police authorities.

However, a new video made available to our correspondent identified two of the policemen as Inspector Adefemi Ashogbon, who is the station officer of the Badagry Police Division, and one Sergeant John Sonayon.

The two policemen and four other yet-to-be-identified policemen could be seen at the scene watching hoodlums beat the victims to death.

The escape of a Nigerian female kidnap victim from the kidnappers’ den has led to the discovery of a shrine where inter-state kidnappers and armed robbers take their victims to hypnotize.

Under pressure to end their relationship, Davon Smallwood, 25, and Ariana O’Neal, 21, both of Queens, New York, committed joint suicide by leaping in front of a train going 80 miles per hour, reports the Daily Mail.com.

A Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) officer discovered a suicide note, next to a black garbage bag filled with clothes, vodka and a can of Coca-Cola, which read:

“Two great people are going to paradise… everything will be good.”

Panic In Abuja As Army, Police Prevent Mob From Burning Church

A joint effort by the Nigerian army and police earlier today prevented the attempted burning  of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nyanya area of the federal capital territory in Abuja.

Sources at the church told SaharaReporters that trouble started when a Hausa-speaking Muslim man in the area was prevented from parking his car too close to the church building. The measure was put in place as a way of preventing Islamist militants from attacking Christian places of worship on Sundays.

The police in Plateau State have arrested a 21-year-old man who slaughtered an eight-year-old boy and removed his eyes for ritual purposes.

Parading the suspect and his accomplices before journalists in Jos, the state capital, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Chris Olakpe, said the incident occurred in February at Shwar village in Kanke Local Government Area.

'I Only Did It 4 Times' - Gay Pastor Goes To Jail


A magistrate court has ordered that Pastor Philip Ogbebor, Founder and General Overseer of a Pentecostal Church in Benin City, be remanded at the Federal Medium Security Prison, Oko for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a 20-year-old male member of his church and administering secret oaths on him, including; threatening to kill him if he told anyone.

Surprisingly, the randy pastor of Breakthrough Ministries, Owina Street, off  Sakponba road  Benin city, neither denied the allegation of homosexuality levelled against him by the parents of one of his victims nor blamed the devil as many culprits will do. Instead, he said, “I am only passing through temptation. I only did it four times with the man who is 22 years old and a regular member of my church. I can’t claim that  it was the devil’s influence , let God decide my case.”

Crisis Rocking Jang Faction Of NGF



Crisis is currently rocking the Governor Jonah Jang faction of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum as investigations showed that some governors in the faction are grumbling over happenings in the forum.

A governor, who belongs to the faction, said that they were not happy with what he called the “over-bearing influence of one of us.” The governor added that with what is happening, it might be difficult for the forum to meet its target.

Woman Bites 9year Old Maid’s Private Parts


At the Onitsha Chief Magistrate Court, Chiamaka , a mother of two, was arraigned by the police yesterday for savagely biting her  nine-year-old maid all over the body, including her private part.

Chiamaka, who hails from Eziagu in Enugu State, was arraigned in suit number MO/38/2013 for allegedly inflicting bodily harm on her maid, Nnenna Nwafor, on  July 25 when she allegedly used dangerous weapons and her teeth to inflict injuries on the girl.

The Police Prosecution counsel, Mr. Uwakwe Okoji, told the court that the crime was committed at No 7 Udemba Street, Woliwo Onitsha.

LG Autonomy: Governors To Lose Control Of N2tr Yearly



Governors of the 36 states of the federation may lose control of over N2.2 trillion revenue, which accrues to the 774 local government areas (LGAs) and oil-producing communities from the Federation Account yearly, if the planned autonomy for LGAs and the clamour for direct payment of the 13 per cent derivation funds to oil-producing areas is actualised.

In the last one year alone, all the state governors have controlled an estimated N1.53 trillion revenue, being the LGAs’ share of allocation from the Federation Account. Each month, billions of naira are paid directly to the states instead of the councils, data gathered have shown.

Fifa chief medical officer Jiri Dvorak believes there is no systematic doping in football, blaming the 70 to 90 positive tests per year on the use of cocaine and marijuana.

Dog Bites Off Sleeping Owner's Testicle


The dog's owner, a 39-year-old paralyzed man, recently adopted the "small white fluffy" stray in hopes of having a loving animal companion, but instead, the dog had to be euthanized after it bit off one of the man's testicles while he was asleep on Monday morning.

The man, who told police he has no feeling from the waist down, woke up with a "burning pain" in his mid-section.

He looked down and found his newly adopted dog between his legs, according to KAIT8.com.

A teenage babysitter, Jalissa Baez, 19, was arrested for having sex with a 9-year-old boy.

According to the police chief, who arrested her after a six-month long investigation, Baez, 19, who lives in Pennsylvania, was arrested for sleeping with the 9-year-old boy, after she had been hired to babysit him.

Jalissa was branded a "threat to the community" by the police chief, who arrested her after a long investigation.

According to police reports, the babysitter warned the boy not tell anyone about their "relationship".

An Australian woman who paid £800 for two new Apple iPhones lost her money when she opened the boxes and found two real green apples inside.The 21-year-old placed an advert online saying she was looking for two Apple iPhones, but was sold two apples instead.

Man Scales Fence To Have Sex With Mad Woman



21-year-old Lateef Sulaiman has been arrested by Officials of the Lagos State Government for allegedly scaling a 14-feet fence to gain entrance into the Lagos State Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Majidun area of Ikorodu, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, to have sex with a mad woman.

Husband Flees After Wife Delivers Triplets



A 40-year-old farmer, Biodun Akapo, a resident of Afojupa Village,a suburb of Owode-Egba Town of Ogun State, is on the run because his wife bore triplets.

The mother delivered the babies on July 24 at Ore-Ofe Maternity Home in the town. She was only able to pay the hospital bill with the intervention of the traditional ruler of the town, Kolawole Sowemimo.

NSCDC Officials Caught Stealing Medical Syringes

Two Inspectors with Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were on Monday arrested by men of the FCT Police command for allegedly breaking into Abuja Central Medical Stores, Jabi, and carting away 25 cartons of medical syringes.

According to police report, a staff of the store called the police when she arrived the scene of the crime unnoticed, and found out a robbery was going on.

Policemen from Utako division on surveillance patrol got a distress call and when they arrived the scene, they saw a Toyota Carina car loaded with 25 cartons of syringes.

Couple, Baby, Motorcyclist Crushed To Death By Commercial Bus In Lagos

Four persons were yesterday crushed by a commercial bus along Sagamu road, in Ikorodu area of Lagos. The deceased, included a man, his wife, their one and half-year-old baby and the commercial motorcyclist.

A commercial bus (danfo) was said to have rammed into a motorbike which was conveying the family of three. The driver of the commercial bus zoomed off, abandoning the victims in the middle of the road, according to an eyewitness.

EFCC Arrests Presidential Candidate Over N66m Scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested the Presidential candidate of Hope Democratic Party, HDP, at the 2011 Presidential election in Nigeria, Chief Ambrose Owuru over an allegation of obtaining N66 million from one Ikechukwu Eze, under false pretense.
