Confederation of African Football (CAF) secretary general Hicham El Amrani and Mvuzo Mbebe, 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) local organising committee and 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) CEO, will discuss the two competitions at the Soccerex African Forum, which takes place in Durban from October 1-2.
The 29th edition of the continent’s premier football event was held earlier this year in South Africa and generated record TV audiences and coverage around the globe. The session at the African Forum will see the pair evaluate the success of the tournament, including the record breaking attendance figures and profits revealed by organisers last week and how that can be transferred to the 2014 CHAN, which also takes place in South Africa.
Soccerex CEO Duncan Revie said: “The 2013 AFCON tournament was a huge success and proved that South Africa is still a leading destination for hosting major sporting events. An integral part of that success was the work of Hicham and Mvuzo who delivered a tournament which has set the benchmark for future editions.”
The Soccerex African Forum will bring 1,000 senior football decision makers together with businesses from across the continent and the world for two days of learning, networking and business opportunities to unite the business of football in Africa.
