Two boys, 3 and 4-year-old were dumped in a fish pond along Dumi road, close to Railway Quarters in Bauchi, Thursday.
It was gathered that one of the kids died before help could come while the other one was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi. Now he is receiving medical attention.
According to some sources, two women and a man who came on a tricycle (popularly known as kekenapepe) threw the two children in the fish pond and ran away.
One of the villagers who were working on a farm close to the fish pond said that they saw two women alighted from the Keke Napepe while the man who rode the vehicle did not come down but was inside watching.
He said, "The two women came down from the Kekenapepe and threw something inside the fish pond, hurriedly enter the Kekenapepe and left.
We were working at the other side of the fish pond. It's a big one that is why but before we could get to the fish pond, the three people have disappeared.
And to our surprise when we looked inside the fish pond to know what they threw inside, we saw two small kids strugling to survive so we immediately called for help."
He said when other villagers came, they were able to rescue the two children but unfortunately one died before getting to the hospital while the other boy is receiving treatment at ATBTH.
When contacted, the Police Public Relation Officer of Bauchi state, ASP Hassan Muhammad Auyo said he was not aware of the incident and promised to get back to the press if he gets any information.
