Leader of kidnap gang killed during rescue mission – Police

The police in Enugu State have shot dead the leader of a gang of kidnappers during the operation to rescue a victim.

According to a statement by the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, the victim, Mr. Faith Omoboriowo, was rescued unhurt.

Amaraizu said the victim was abducted at Nru in Nsukka Local Government Area on August 11th.

He said that the leader of the gang, Obiora Agbo, was injured in a gun battle with the police when he came to collect the N2.5 million ransom which the gang demanded. He however died on the way to the hospital.

“The victim was rescued unhurt on Aug. 22 at Ohebe Village in Orba, Udenu Local Government Area at midnight,” he said.
