17 injured, Bus Burnt In Onitsha, Obosi Youths Land Fight


The fight over the ownership of a large parcel of land behind the Nigerian Meteorological Institute along the Onitsha –Owerri expressway between the youths of Onitsha and neighbouring Obosi community in Idemili North Local Government Area on Monday has left at least 17 persons were seriously injured and a Mitsubishi bus completely burnt.



According to witnesses, for over one hour, traffic was held up as vehicles refused to ply the road for fear of being attacked by the youths who brandished various types of dangerous as they chased each other with their weapons.

The disputed land, known as Ogwodogwo, is presently being farmed on by Obosi people.

It took a contingent of heavily armed policemen to put an end to the fighting.

The injured are said to be receiving treatment in various private hospitals in the metropolis.
