30 Students Feared Dead In Boko Haram Attack In Yobe State



At least 30 students have been confirmed dead and four others in critical condition after gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram members, attacked a secondary school in Potiskum, Yobe State Saturday morning.

According to witnesses, some of the students were burnt beyond recpognition while those with gunshot wounds are receiving treatment at the Potiskum General Hospital.


“We received 42 dead bodies of students and other staff of Government Secondary School in Mamudo last night. Some of them had gunshot wounds while many of them had burns and ruptured tissues.”

This is the second attack in less than a month as seven students and two teachers of a government secondary school in Damaturu were killed on June 16.

Joint Task Force (JTF) spokesman in Yobe, Mr. Lazarus confirmed the incident but saying no arrest has been made even as he added that a “cordon and search operation” is ongoing in the area.

Yobe State which is said to be the stronghold of the Insurgency group, Boko Haram is one of the three states presently under emergency rule.
