STF Nabs Man With 56 Bags Of Indian Hemp In Jos



The Special Task Force in Jos, Plateau State has arrested a man iddentified as Godwin Ameah with 56 bags of marijuana.

He was paraded on Friday at the STF headquarters in Jos before journalists. He was thereafter handed over to officials of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.




Parading Ameah, who is said to be a Indian dealer, Spokesman for STF, salisu Mustapha explained that he was arrested following a tip-off.

According to the STF Spokesman, the STF patrol base at Rukuba road got information that some vehicles carrying a substance suspected to be Indian hemp had left Bassa LGA and would be passing through Akass Village to Rukuba Road.

Mustapha said "He was found with marijuana in three commercial vehicles: a Jetta with registration number Plateau AM 662 BUU; a black Golf 3 car with registration number Plateau AM 557 BDA and; an ash Vento with registration number Plateau BLD 85 AA."

It was learnt that drivers of the other two cars managed to escape leaving Ameah.

But speaking with newsmen, Ameah, claimed he was a commercial driver contracted to convey the goods, insisting that he was unaware of the nature of the substance in his vehicle.
