Flood Overtake Yenagoa

Heavy rainfall in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital has resulted in the city being flooded.

Many homes and roads have now been severally flooded and this has been causing a lot of anxiety among residents. Some of the affected families and business outfits were forced to resort to the use of pumping machines to drain water off their premises.

According to reports, many buildings in in the Tombia, Edepie, Yenizue-Gene,  Biogbolo, Yenizue-Epie, Ekeki, Onopa and Ovom areas have been severely affected by the flood.

One of the residents of the area said “It has not been easy for us, we are yet to reach the peak of the rainy season, but look at what we are passing.”

Other residents also pointed out that the flooding is due to the absence of functional drainage in the neighbourhood as well as the low topography of the area.
