Suicide bomb kills several people in Kano

A female suicide bomber targeting women lining up to buy kerosene killed several people on Monday in northern Nigeria’s Kano city, the second attack in the area in as many days, witnesses said.

“A suicide bomber who was milling in the crowd set off explosives concealed under her dress,” said Habibu Ali, a fuel vendor in the targeted Hotoro neighbourhood. “Several people, mostly woman, were killed.”

That account was supported by area resident Shehu Mudi while Kano police spokesman Musa Magaji Majia told AFP he was on his way to the scene, declining further comment.
The suicide bomb went off at a NNPC Mega station at Hotoro quarters along Maiduguri road, Kano at about 10:00 a.m.

The suicide bomber is believed to be injured and not dead as at the time of filing this report.

Security forces have since cordoned the scene and police Bomb Disposal experts are sweeping the area. According to police force Spokesperson, Frank Mba, citizens are advised to stay off the scene.
