my wife threathens my life,husband tells court
A man, Alhaji Sule Toheeb, told an Ilorin Area Court on Wednesday that his wife, Saidat Toheeb, was always threatening to kill him.
Toheeb, 36, who resided at Amilegbe area of Ilorin, prayed the court to dissolve his four-year-old marriage to Saidat for being a threat to his life.
“My wife gets angry at any slightest provocation and always promise to kill me whenever I try to correct her wrong attitude,’’ he said.
He told the court that his wife always refuse to carry out his orders, and would at times threaten to arrest him if he disturbed her life.
Toheeb said that their marriage was contracted in 2010 and was yet to produce any child.
“My Lord, I want an end to this marriage because I cannot withstand my wife’s threat because my life is in danger,’’ he said.
However, the defendant objected to the prayer, saying she was still interested in the marriage.
“My husband always provoke me to threaten him due to his rigid nature; but I promise to be submissive to my husband,’’ she said.
She prayed the court for an adjournment to enable her make a reconciliatory move.
The Presiding judge,Mr. Yusuf Abdulkareem fixed June 5 for report of settlement or continuation of hearing.
