Soldiers Nab Trailer Hijacking Syndicate



The Internal Security outfit in Ondo State has arrested a gang of robbers who specialize in hijacking of commodity trailers.

The suspects arrested by the soldiers include Messrs. Abdulfatai Olawale, Gbenga Jacobs, Segun Olanrewaju, Godwin Attah, Abdulazeez Isah, Okwudili Uwa and Michael James.


The arrest of the gang by officers of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, Ondo State was effected at the boundary town between Ekiti and Kogi States.

Commander of the Internal Security outfit, Col Muhammed Zubairu, the robbers have confessed to hijacking trailers worth millions of naira.

According to Mr. Zubairu, the goods were mostly sold in neighboring countries mostly Niger.

Items recovered during the raid include locally made revolvers, rounds of ammunition, pistols with cartridges, single barrel guns, 16 rounds of cartridges, empty shells of cartridges, ATM cards, seven telephone sets, charms and amulets, voters cards, drivers licenses, kilos of Indian hemp and masks.

Mr. Zubairu said the suspects also confessed that their godfather, Mr.

Bello, after every successful operations ensured the trailers and the goods were transported to buyers in Niger Republic.

He added that those apprehended will be handed over to the police for further investigations.
