Man Arraigned For Possessing Fake Foreign Currency



For being in possession of fake Pound Sterling, Oluwafunso Wemson, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court.

Testifying before the court, Police prosecutor, Solomon Oladele had told the court that the accused had on June 2, this year at about 6pm at MDS area, Osogbo entered the shop of one Kehinde Adeyemo and stole N265,000.

 
Oladele added that when Wemson was apprehended and his house searched on June 8, he was found to be in possession of 140 Pound Sterling and when questioned, he could not explain the source of the money.

He said the accused offence contravened sections 390 and 430 of the Criminal Code cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun 2003.

Wemson who had no legal representation pleaded not guilty to the charges and he was subsequently granted bail by Senior Magistrate, Olusola Aluko in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Aluko added that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and their addresses must be verified by the Police in charge of the case and that each surety must provide evidence of tax payment and two clear passport photographs to the court.

The case was adjourned to June 17 for hearing.
